Budget Message 2018 – 2019
The Board of Trustees of the Westbury Memorial Public Library is proud to propose a budget which, for the sixth year, has no increase in Library taxes.
The Board of Trustees and Administration work very hard to ensure that expenses are controlled while maintaining excellent service and offering exciting program selections. This year’s budget will use $284,721 of our surplus, significantly reducing that fund and allowing us to avoid a tax increase. Unavoidable increases to this year’s budget are based on rising costs for utilities, maintenance and repair as well as upcoming union negotiation legal fees. Employee benefit costs have risen due to an average 7% increase in healthcare costs. The contractual agreement with ALIS (Automated Library Information System) has increased for the first time in several years.
We welcome your input at the Library budget hearing on Tuesday, March 20 at 7 pm.
Thank you for your support and please remember to vote on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 from 9 am – 9 pm at the Library
