When assigned a school project to “fill” a suitcase with memories, twelve-year-old Amara knows exactly what she wants to fill it with. Memories of her family, her family in Oregon and especially the family she has never met in New York.
What Amara learns is that families are complicated and there’s a reason her father hasn’t introduced her to her grandfather; they haven’t spoken in 12 years. Taking a chance, Amara’s father brings her to New York as a special birthday gift. Will family drama ruin her birthday and her school assignment?
Some Places More than Others is a story of learning who you are, letting go of the past and forgiveness.
