Due to an increased interest in our Children’s programming and the limited space allotted, some of our programs will be ticketed events. Come check-in at the Children’s Library beginning a half hour prior to the start of the program to pick up your ticket. Ticketed programs will not have advance registration and are first come, first served. One ticket per child.
Our chicks Are Here!
The Children’s Library has been hosting a chick incubation program. Stop by the library to visit our new little additons. They will be here until Tuesday, April 18th.
Circle Time and Toy Center
Fridays, 10:30 – 11:30
For children ages 6 months to 4 years of age. 15 minutes of songs, finger plays and stories, plus some play time for you to share with your child. Meet other parents and caregivers.
Tots Night Out
Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 7:00pm
Enjoy a fun interactive hour with your young child! Adults and their children ages 18 months through 5 years old can come to the library and engage in age appropriate activities that are both fun and educational. Please register in advance. Space is limited.
Mother’s Day Craft - Ticketed Event
Tuesday, May 9 at 3:45pm – Check-in begins at 3:15pm
Bring your favorite grownup to celebrate Mother’s Day. Grownups and children will spend time together and create! Tickets are required to attend this program. Space is limited. For children ages 1 year old up to 6th grade.
Staller Center’s Instrument Petting Zoo
Saturday, May 13 at 2pm
Stony Brook University’s Staller Center for the Arts will be here to demonstrate different instruments and the sounds they make. Children will have the opportunity to touch and play the instruments themselves. Please register in advance, space is limited. For children ages 3 to 5 years old.
Monday, May 15 at 10amJoin us for Parachute Storytime! This fun storytime will include songs and rhymes using the parachute. For children 18 months to 4 years old. Please register in advance, space is limited.
Thursday, May 18 at 10amThis baby and me class will focus on early literacy, motor skills, and speech/language development. A licensed and certified speech-language pathologist will demonstrate different techniques using songs, games and reading activities. Questions or concerns regarding toddler development will be addressed. For children ages 1 to 3 years old.
Wednesday, May 24 at 6pm
Get ready to sketch and stretch with this unique program that combines yoga and art! Each child will leave with a completed mini canvas painting. Dress comfortably for this program. Please register in advance, space is limited. For children ages 5 to 7 years old.
Healthy and Fun Snacks
Wednesday, May 31 at 6:30pm
Nana’s of Westbury will be here to teach us how to make delicious healthy and fun snacks. Please register in advance. Space is limited. For children 4 years old up to 6th grade.
Chess for Kids
Wednesdays, June 7, 14, 21 and 28 at 6pm
Future Grandmasters, come to the library to learn new chess skills to help you advance to the next level. Please register in advance, space is limited. For children in 1st to 6th grade.
Tots Dance Party
Thursday, June 8 at 7pm
Get ready to sing, dance and play with your toddler or preschooler! Play Hooray will be here to present a 45-minute interactive themed program designed to encourage cooperation, good manners and fun! Fun! Fun! For children ages 18 months to 5 years old. Please register in advance, space is limited.
Help Me Grow
Monday, June 12 at 7pm
This interactive class will help enhance your child’s academic performance, as well as social interactions by focusing on speech/language expansion, motor skills and early literacy skills. A licensed and certified speech-language pathologist will lead the class. Please register in advance, space is limited. For children ages 3 to 5 years old.

Find a nice spot on the grass and get ready to paint! Young children, birth to 3 years old, are welcome to join Miss Liz for this messy outdoor art program! Come dressed to get messy! Please register in advance. Space is limited.
Summer Reading Kickoff
Tuesday, June 27th at 7pm
Join us for our annual Summer Reading Kickoff! This year’s theme is “Build a Better World”! We will be kicking off our busy summer with Jim the Magician. Come check out this great show and sign up for Summer Reading! For children of all ages.
Shark Cupcakes - Ticketed Event
Thursday, June 29 at 4pm – Check-in begins at 3:30pm
The Baking Coach will be here to help us create shark cupcakes using fondant and butter cream. Each child will create 3 cupcakes to take home and enjoy. Younger children will need caregiver assistance. Tickets are required to attend this program. Space is limited. For children in K to 6th grade.
