Toy Chest Mondays
Mondays, 10:30am-11:30am

Spend the morning playing with your toddler! We’ll bring out the toy chest. For children 6 months to 4 years old.

Circle Time and Toy Center
Fridays, 10:30 – 11:30

For children ages 6 months to 4 years of age. 15 minutes of songs, finger plays and stories, plus some play time for you to share with your child. Meet other parents and caregivers.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

This free program encourages you to read 1,000 books to your child before they enter kindergarten – a goal experts say children need to help them learn to read for themselves.  Read three picture books a night and you will finish the program within a year!  See a Children’s Librarian for more information.

100 Books Before 7th Grade

Finished with 1000 Books Before Kindergarten or looking to take on a new challenge? Join our new reading program for independent readers! For children in Kindergarten to 6th grade. See a Children’s librarian for more information.

Just Bring the Baby Book Club

You Be the Judge Storytime

The Caldecott Medal will soon be awarded to the illustrator of the “most distinguished American picture book for children.” Help us guess which book might win. We will read books from a short list of favorites and the audience will vote for the best of the best! Please register in advance. For children in grades K – 6th.


Family BINGO Night

Spend the evening playing BINGO with your family! Please register in advance. For children up to 6th grade and their families.


Cuentos y Canciones: Bilingual Storytime

Tots Dance Party

Get ready to sing, dance and play with your toddler or preschoolers! Play Hooray will be here to present a 45-minute interactive themed program designed to encourage cooperation, good manners and fun! Please register in advance, space is limited. For children 18 months to 5 years old.


LICM: Freedom Quilts
Tuesday, February 5 at 6pm

Discover the stories that quilts told in the days of the Underground Railroad to assist runaway slaves on their journey to freedom. Learn to “read” various quilt codes; then use mathematical patterns and fabric shapes to design a quilt that tells your very own personal story. Please register in advance, space is limited. Cozy Storytime: Stories of the Pig

Whaling Museum: Valentine’s Day Craft

Did you know that whalers brought home a special souvenir for their loved ones called a Sailor’s Valentine? Create these beautiful works of art for yourself or a loved one using different types of shells. Please register in advance, space is limited. For children in Kindergarten to 6th grade.

Retro Gaming

Long Island Retro Gaming comes to the Westbury Children’s Library to take you back in time!  Experience video game history and discover or rediscover games that are still fun in any decade! Please register in advance, space is limited. For children in 3rd to 6th grade.


Craft Cart

Our Craft Cart will be out Saturdays in January and February from 10am to 2pm.
