Toy Chest Mondays
Mondays, 10:30am-11:30am

Spend the morning playing with your toddler! We’ll bring out the toy chest. For children 6 months to 4 years old.

Circle Time and Toy Center
Fridays, 10:30 – 11:30

For children ages 6 months to 4 years of age. 15 minutes of songs, finger plays and stories, plus some play time for you to share with your child. Meet other parents and caregivers.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

This free program encourages you to read 1,000 books to your child before they enter kindergarten – a goal experts say children need to help them learn to read for themselves.  Read three picture books a night and you will finish the program within a year!  See a Children’s Librarian for more information.

100 Books Before 7th Grade

Finished with 1000 Books Before Kindergarten or looking to take on a new challenge? Join our new reading program for independent readers! For children in Kindergarten to 6th grade. See a Children’s librarian for more information.

Attention Yarn Artists!

We are seeking donations of knit or crocheted flowers for a community art project. Any pattern, any color! If you don’t have a favorite pattern, we will have a list of links on our website (westburylibrary.org/childrens) and limited materials, on demand, at the Children’s desk. Please help us beautify the Library! 

Craft Cart

Our Craft Cart will be out Saturdays in March & April from 11am to 2pm.

Cuentos y Canciones: Bilingual Storytime
Wednesday, March 20 & Tuesday, April 9 at 6:15pm

Come listen to stories read in Spanish and English followed by a craft at the library! Please register in advance. For children 4 years old up to 2nd grade.

STEAM for Tots
Thursday, March 21 & 28 at 7pm

Come explore, play and build with your child while taking part in S.T.E.A.M.-based activities! Please register in advance, space is limited. For children 18 months to 5 years old.


Silhouette Art
Wednesday, March 27 at 3:45pm

Get creative and fill in silhouettes with magazine strips! Please register in advance, space is limited. For children 4 years old to 6th grade.


123 Play with Me
Thursdays, April 4, 11, 18, 25 & May 2 at 10am

Bring your toddler to the meeting room each week to play and learn using toys that develop motor skills. There will be an activity and an expert on-hand to answer questions about child rearing. Materials are available in English and Spanish. Please register in advance, space is limited. For children 1, 2, and 3 years old.


Graphic Novel Book Club
Saturday, April 6 at 11am

Join Ms. Stephanie to discuss the graphic novel Awkward by Svetlana Chmakova. Copies of the book will be available at the front desk. Please register in advance. For children in 3rd to 6th grade.


Tots Dance Party
Monday, April 8 at 7 pm

Get ready to sing, dance and play with your toddlers or preschoolers! Play Hooray will be here to present a 45-minute interactive themed program designed to encourage cooperation, good manners and fun! Please register in advance, space is limited. For children 18 months to 5 years old.


Cozy Storytime

Leyendo Juntos
Saturday, April 13 at 10am

Padres y sus hijos están invitados a participar en una discusión sobre el libro El Béisbol Nos Salvó por Ken Mochizuki. Copias del libro estarán disponible en inglés y español. Este programa será bilingüe. Para niños de 3º hasta 6º grado y sus padres.

Parents and their children are invited to participate in a book discussion about the book Baseball Saved Us by Ken Mochizuki. Copies of the book will be available in English and Spanish. This program is bilingual. For children in 3rd to 6th grade and their parents.


Decorate a Flower Pot

Chick Obstacle Course

Earth Day Craft
Monday, April 22 at 3pm

Celebrate Earth Day by making a bird feeder. Please register in advance. For children in Kindergarten to 6th grade.


Who Is Program
Tuesday, April 23 at 3pm

Future journalists, bring your grown up to the library and interview them. Write a biography of them biography inspired by the popular Who Was/Who Is biography series. You will receive a booklet with suggested interview questions and you will design your own book cover! 

For children in 2nd – 6th grade. Please register in advance.

Wednesday, April 24 at 3pm

Dinoman
Thursday, April 25 at 3pm

Take a trip through the Mesozoic era with Dinoman to find some giant dinosaurs! For children of all ages.


Dia de los Niños/Dia de los Libros
Friday, April 26 from 2pm to 4pm

Join us for an afternoon of board games, crafts and stories that celebrate diversity! While supplies last. For children in Pre-K to 6th grade.
